Manaslu Tea House Trek
Overview

The complete circuit of Manaslu (8163m) over the the Larke Pass is getting more and more popular as a new trekking destination circumnavigating the 8th highest peak in the world (8,156 m). It has relatively few trekkers compared to the established trekking routes. The Manaslu trek begins either in the town of Arughat Bazaar or Gorkha Bazaar and ends in Besisahar, which is also the starting point for the Annapurna circuit.

It’s a beautiful trek, with spectacular views of the Manaslu and going through authentic Hindu and Tibetan-style villages passing small Hindu villages. Heading northwards, the valley opens up to reveal delightful alpine meadows and small Tibetan-style villages which cluster beneath Manaslu’s sweeping North Face and heading west route linking the Buri Gandaki with the Marsyangdi valley. The descent passes through beautiful alpine meadows at Bimtang, before joining the main Annapurna Circuit route and heading to the trailhead at Besi Sahar.

The trail meanders, scrambles, soars and dives its way along the confines of the valley. In places the river cuts through very narrow towering cliffs, graced by fairytale waterfalls. Beyond Jagat the colourful Hindu culture is replaced by the more contemplative Buddhism. Mani walls, kani gates and chortens dot the byways. The trek has all the elements of other treks in Nepal including both Hindu and Buddhist culture, protected wildlife, rhododendrons and wild flowers, raging rivers, precarious bridges and stunning mountain scenery.
